Puerto Rico Allowed Option of Independence? |

The Federal Government recently passed legislation allowing Puerto Rico a potential option to vote for their own independence from the United States. Of course, this was only done knowing that they would not take that option, but would gladly stoop down to feed from the Federal trough as a State.
Nevertheless, if the option is open for the people of Puerto Rico to choose their own political status, why not allow the same option to South Carolina or Idaho as well? Perhaps Democrats would be happy to rid themselves of these "red" States, that are not the biggest providers of Federal revenue anyway. It all comes down to the money.
